Spring Activities in Ouray, Colorado
The cascading waterfalls are especially breathtaking in the spring as the ice and snow melt with the advance of warm weather. The highest water flow normally occurs the first week of June. Beginning in May, the Uncompahgre River that runs through Ouray works its way into a raging torrent. Most of our properties are located by the river it is an exhilarating site to see the river rushing by.
The aspen and oak trees signal the beginning of spring with almost fluorescent green buds. We're sorry to see winter go but joyous at the prospect of a new season.
Locals put away their snow boots, drag out their hiking boots, and check the tires on their mountain bikes because the dirt roads and trails will soon be dry enough to enjoy.
